Vixen’s Wedding

Yet again time is flying by and I’m wayyyyyy behind on my food posts. Don’t fear, I’m still eating my way around Austin. It’s just maybe I’m fatter and lazier now from my food adventures and so haven’t been keeping up…#sloth! I digress. So a few weeks back I tried Vixen’s Wedding. The theme is Goan inspired Texas food. Cool vibe and tasty food! Pictured are the pork ribs, fried okra, cheese pao, lamb saag, quail and the beet dosa. My favorite was the lamb and the not pictured masoor dal. The food hit the spot and gave warmth on a cool gray rainy night. Definitely worth checking out!

Cuantos Tacos

Ohhh I’m so lucky to live within walking distance to Cuantos Tacos! Mexican street tacos from this little truck. I’m telling you this is the real deal! On Thursday they have a special $9 for 4 bistec tacos with cotija cheese and avocado. The corn tortillas are slathered in grease and crisped up just right on the griddle. Don’t miss their special frijoles which have a kick and great depth of flavor. I’m gonna have to make this a regular Thursday meal!

The Peacock Brunch

I really love this place. Peacock in the Austin Proper Hotel serves up Mediterranean and Middle Eastern inspired food. The space is relaxed and chic. More importantly the food hits the mark. Certainly a place like this hits the wallet but for me it’s worth it for the quality of food. The pastries are from Swedish Hill Bakery and the butter croissant was the best I’ve had in Austin; Jodie thought it was as good as one you can get in France! I love the Hummus with Crispy Shallots, Zhoug, and Charmula. I also can’t resist the Toasted Almond Muhamarra with Curried Cauliflower and Castelvetrano Olives. We ordered the Pastry Basket which included the Buttered Croissant, Chocolate Babka and Blood Orange Saffron Cake…all delicious.

Also pictured are the Blueberry and Semolina Pancakes, Roasted Red Pepper Omelette, and the Potato Latkes. Yes…our eyes were bigger than our stomachs…queue food coma! Definitely check this place out for Brunch or Dinner.
